This blog will follow daily the progress of the installation of our new water pipes. The company will be working 4-10 hour days with friday open for surveying and cleaning up on the previous weeks work. The company and the county request that all people that are watching the progress to maintain a safe distance from working personal and equiptment. SLEEVE WITH NEW WATER PIPE CROSSES CAPRI BLVD.

CHAIRS ARE STRAPPED AROUND THE 12"  NEW WATER PIPE TO KEEP THE PIPE FLOATING INSIDE OF THE 24" SLEEVE.
THE TWO LENGTHS OF 12" PIPE ARE SLIPPED TOGETHER AND BOLTED INTO PLACE.

THE PIPE IS NOW SLIPPED INTO THE 24" SLEEVE UNTIL ABOUT 30" OF 12" PIPE STICKS OUT OF EACH END.

A RUBBER SLEEVE IS NOW PLACED OVER THE 12" PIPE AND THE 24" PIPE.   THIS RUBBER SLEEVE KEEPS THE DIRT OUT OF THE METAL SLEEVE AND IS HELD IN PLACE WITH  S.S. PIPE STRAPS.






THE END OF THE 12" NEW WATER PIPE IS COVERED TO KEEP THE DIRT OUT AND IT IS READY TO INSTALL





MEAN WHILE THE BYPASS ROAD WAS OPENED,

THE ROAD IS CUT AND THE PAVEMENT IS PICKED UP AND HAULED AWAY..

THE DITCH IS DUG TO A DEPTH OF 6'7" AND A STEEL PLATE IS LAID OVER PART OF IT TO ALLOW VEHICLES TO PASS..

DURING THE DIGGING A LOT OF VEGETATION WAS DUG UP,  IT WAS SEPARATED AND HAULED AWAY..

THEN THE COMPLETED 24" SLEEVE WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE SITE AND INSPECTED BY COUNTY INSPECTOR, DAVE LATERNEAU..

THE SLEEVE WAS THEN LOWERED INTO THE DITCH, SLIPPING BELOW THE 8" FORCED SEWER MAIN..

THE PIPE WAS THEN COVERED BY A FINE GRAVEL, FILLED WITH CLEAN FILL DIRT AND COMPACTED..



THE TOP LAYER IS THE BASE COAT, IT IS COMPACTED AND THE COMPACTION IS TESTED BY ..
THE TEST IS TO ASSURE THE STABALITY OF THE ASPHALT . DUE TO THE MOISTURE IN THE GROUND, THE TEST FAILED TODAY.

THE CUT WAS FILLED TO ALLOW CARS TO PASS BOTH WAYS AND TOMORROW AFTERNOON THE ROAD WILL BE ONE LANED WHILE THE TEST IS REPEATED AND THE ASPHALT LAID.
