ISLES of CAPRI WATER SYSTEM

This blog will follow daily the progress of the installation of our new water pipes. The company will be working 4-10 hour days with friday open for surveying and cleaning up on the previous weeks work. The company and the county request that all people that are watching the progress to maintain a safe distance from working personal and equiptment. This blog hopefully will show you the progress daily in order to keep you as informed as possible.

FINAL DAY OF PULLING ASBESTOS WATER PIPE

THE CREW INSTALLS A 2" PIPE INTO THE ASBESTOS TO PREPARE IT FOR BEING GROUTED..

A CONCRETE BAG IS PLACED TO KEEP THE PIPE FROM BLOWING OUT OF THE ASBESTOS PIPE..

THE CREW MOVES TO GRANADA AVE TO REMOVE A SHORT PIECE OF ASBESTOS THAT CROSSES THE NEW 12" MAIN WATER PIPE..

AIR MONITORS ARE SET UP ON ONE OF THE WORKERS THAT WILL BE IN THE HOLE..

AND ON A PERIMETER POST..

COLLIER COUNTY FIELD INSPECTOR, "GREG TROKEY", INSPECTS THE CHAIN CUTTER THAT IS USED TO CUT THE ASBESTOS PIPE AND PREVENT AIRBORNE MATERIAL..

THE ASBESTOS PIPE IS UNCOVERED AT THE PLACE WHERE A 2" PIPE IS TAPPED TO FEED GRANADA AVE..

THE 2" GALVANIZED PIPE IS CUT AWAY FROM THE ASBESTOS PIPE..

THE 6" ASBESTOS WATER PIPE IS PULLED FROM THE DITCH. THE 2" TAP CAN BE SEEN ON THE SIDE OF THE COUPLING..

THE ASBESTOS PIPE IS IMMEDIATELY SLIPPED INTO A  SLEEVE FOR DISPOSAL..

THE 2" GALVANIZED WATER PIPE THAT WAS REPLACED WITH A NEW 6" PVC PIPE, WAS VERY CORRODED ON THE INSIDE. THIS SIZE PIPE WAS WHAT FED ALL OF THE SIDE STREETS..

THE CREW MOVED TO A LOCATION FOR THE FINAL WORK ON ASBESTOS PIPE. A TAP WAS INSTALLED TO ALLOW THE GROUT TO BE PUMPED INTO THE OLD WATER PIPE..

THE PIPE IS EXPOSED AND A SADDLE IS INSTALLED..

THEN THE 2" IS RUN ABOVE THE GROUND FOR PUMPING THE GROUT.
